With Bigg Boss entering its 12th season this year, Salman Khan will be taking up its reins for the ninth time. The Bollywood superstar shot for its promos last week at a suburban Mumbai studio. A source reveals, “This time, the show kickstarts a month earlier than usual. Salman, who had to wrap up work on Dus Ka Dum 3 before flying off to Malta for Bharat, took a day off from his schedule and completed his commitment to the channel.”

NEW THEME

Says a source from the team, “This time, the series is set to redefine the concept of awesome twosome with its theme ‘vichitra jodis’. Usually, the word ‘jodi’ is synonymous with a husband-wife, boyfriend-girlfriend, etc. But the makers have extended it to saas-bahu, boss-employee, mama-bhanja and others. So, contestants will enter the house with another member who is known to them.”

FOUR PROMOS, FOUR CHARACTERS

The actor-producer shot for four different promos, which will be unveiled in quick succession, in the run-up to the show’s premiere on September 16. “The Dabangg actor adds a new dimension to BB with his swag and wit. He came up with some creative inputs while filming the first look and the team liked them,” our source tells us.

The informer reveals that the Race 3 star donned chaar ‘vichitra’ characters (check inset) for the teasers.

“In the first one, he will be seen playing himself — an actor, who talks about the world of showbiz and the different jodis that became popular — whether it’s Ram Lakhan or Karan Arjun. In the second, he dons the role of a class teacher. Salman is known to reprimand contestants when they go the wrong way on the show, but he has never played a teacher on screen before.”

The other two have him playing more ‘desi’ characters, our khabri adds. “Salman will be seen as a babu working in a government office, discussing the pros and cons of the job. This will be followed by him dressed as a village sutradhar, clad in a kurta pyjama. He won’t have any jodidaar with him in the sneak-peek, but will be the task master for all the contestants.”
