Now, in an interview with Film Companion at Cannes 2019, Hina Khan reacted to the entire controversy and shared how she felt at the time:
1. "Even when you're talking about it, you must have seen my expression changed": Hina Khan
During her interaction with noted film critic Anupama Chopra, when Hina was asked if the entire controversy had let her down, Hina said, "Even when you're talking about it, you must have seen my expression changed. Well, you really work hard in life to reach where you want to reach and it takes a lot of courage to break the stereotype and then to get out of your comfort zone. Then you that you're making so much money in Television... You put in a lot of hard work and coming to Cannes is not easy. It's a very tough thing, it's not like how it is back there (in India). It's very very difficult. You've got to do something in life to be here."

2. "....and then comes a comment from somebody who I look up to"
Hina Khan went on, "That's the reason that I knew that I'm going to have my poster launch, I'm going to walk the red carpet and I was so excited and my red carpet went so well, I was overwhelmed by the response from the Indian media and the International media. I got a lot of good respinse, so many beautiful pictures which I never expected and then comes a comment from somebody who I look up to."

3. "I won't deny that I did feel really bad"
Hina further shared, "A lot of trolling happens in the world, not just from where we belong to, not just from out country. It's a fact of life. Social media is all about trolling, but then you don't know them, Right? You somehow feel it's okay. May be they don't have what we have and it's okay (for them to troll) and we just let it be. But (the comment) coming from someboy who's sitting at such a huge position and it was disheartening. I did feel bad. I won't deny that I did feel really bad, that it was not necessary. It was not required. I felt bad not just for myself that I've put in a lot of effort, for the person as well, that it's not required. You are what you are. You don't need it. And I have a huge regard for that person. "

In the morning I saw Farah (Khan) maam tweeting for me, Rajeev Masad tweeting for me and lot of people coming together and supporting me, it was so overwhelming that I had tears in my eyes and I broke down."
