Game of Thrones season 8 is arriving along with the winter on April 15, 2019, in India. The final season will have only six episodes making it the shortest season ever. According to all the actors of the show, the fans will be witnessing a lot of bloodshed and deaths in the upcoming season which will lead to heartbreak for many. Many fans believe that Gemma Whelan aka Yara Greyjoy might be killed off on the show.

In an interview with The Scotsman, when Gemma was asked about what fans can expect from her character on the show, she stated, "All I can tell you is when I read the final episode I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. Because we’ve all conjectured and wondered and been asked over the years, who, what, how, and it’s not ANYTHING you could have guessed. It’s brilliant, so movingly clever."

Game of Thrones season 8 will air on Star World from April 16, 2019, at 10 pm.

During another interview, Gemma spoke at length about all things Game of Thrones. Excerpts below:

I am Euron's [Greyjoy] captive on a boat.

I’m hopeful there’ll be a circularity, in terms of her relationship with her brother and how she has constantly been trying to save him. Does he or doesn't he step up to help her now she needs it? That would be nice.

Mine was the introduction of Yara on the horse [season one]. The horse thing with Theon. That'd be my introduction – it’s always been the scene most people ask me about.

I'll tell you the one thing I am very glad not to have to do again is run along a sandy beach in that costume because there is no delicate or dignified or badass way you can do that. There is very little support in those boots. Sand is by nature not very supportive and to try and run along the beach looking convincing and then jump into a boat… it was very challenging. I'm very glad to not have to try and look convincing running along the beach again.

That's not trying to cut one's cloth two ways. When we were in Iceland and we'd have to get up really, really early to try and max out on the daylight, you're getting up early, dragging yourself there, getting covered in shit… it's hard when you're doing that day after day. But then in those days, you were in the most breathtakingly stunning scenery. You do it and you feel both high and exhausted. Then, you go do that journey all the way back home to have drinks with everyone. It's the hard graft of it that makes it what it is, makes it Thrones. Deep down, you don't begrudge a second of it.

I don't know. I still very rarely get recognised, which is a great thing. What I'll get is like a double take or someone will think they went to school with me, but then they can't place me. My day to day is very much as was, but if you go to a convention or a premiere it's quite overwhelming really. Without those fans, of course, the show doesn't mean anything, does it? They're hugely important.
