These actors, especially Rajat Kapoor and Pratik Gandhi, are one of the big reasons you should make 'Scam 1992' your weekend binge
Hansal Mehta's web show 'Scam 1992' is everything that people are talking about ever since it released and justifiably so. It tries to expose (or whitewash, you decide) the image of Harshad Mehta, a stockbroker from the 90s who had numerous cases against him after a scandal was exposed back in 1992.
The show calls this scam a 'common practice' back then, making you think hard about the economic situation of the time. It was the time when foreign banks were just entering the market - a time when Government-led banks were trusted much more than any private bank.
While the plot of the show is hard-hitting and forces you to sit, watch and analyze many things, 'Scam 1992' also brings forth some actors that deserve a special applause. Right from 'Harshad Mehta' Pratik Gandhi to his competition 'Satish Kaushik', every actor was almost perfect for the role. Mukesh Chhabra had worked on casting the actors. It was, however, the performances which have left an impact and made 'Scam 1992' a must watch.
Here are the few actors to look out for, till the end...
1. Pratik Gandhi
Harshad Mehta in real life was a person who charmed (and allegedly deceived) people with his words and actions. Pratik Gandhi slipped into the role without much effort. He portrayed a similar charm and almost made us want to hear Mehta's story and not hear it at the same time.
2. Rajat Kapoor
Rajat Kapoor came onto the web show as an officer who had worked on exposing the Bofors scam. His methods of carrying an investigation and the personality he displayed, is sure to leave you inspired.
3. Satish Kaushik
Satish Kaushik is the biggest enemy of Pratik Gandhi. If Gandhi was 'The Big Bull', he was the ultimate 'Bear' of stocks. Both the characters were constantly at loggerheads and used their brains into how to defeat the other.
4. Shreya Dhanwanthary
Shreya Dhanwanthary played the 'ideal journalist' Sucheta Dalal. She would always try to bring both sides of the story forward, which has been the basic job of a journalist. It was Dalal's passion that led to the unveiling of the scam, and thus Shreya had big shoes to fill. She did a fair job in that.
5. Anant Mahadevan
Anant Mahadevan keeps his subtle acting alive in 'Scam 1992'. He comes out as a surprise package in one of the scenes with Shreya, and of course, plays an important part in the unveiling of the scam.
6. Chirag Vohra
Chirag Vohra is probably one of the most underrated actors in 'Scam 1992'. He is like any other worker - who comes, does his work and goes home with a smile. Except, he has anger supressed inside of him. The scene where he blasts out and finally decides to end it all, is his highest point on the show.
7. Special mention: Sharib Hashmi
It is quite disappointing to see that a talent like Sharib Hashmi has a very small cameo in Hansal Mehta's show. However, in the two scenes that he is part of, Hashmi will force you to stay gripped onto the show and understand what the real game is.
