1.Women Power
The cast is filled with strong women characters and phenomenal actors who play them. Apart from the lead -- Kiernan Shipka -- Michelle Gomez of Doctor Who fame and Lucy Davis of Wonder Woman are the two actresses that shine in every frame they are in. Gomez with her quirk and Davis with her cuteness bring the house down. Miranda Otto as Aunt Zelda is unabashed in her prudeness.
2.Women Power 2.0
'Sabrina' deals with the problems of patriarchal society. Even though the witches are more powerful than mere mortals, they still are at the mercy of the Dark Lord Satan himself. These women are evil, good, shifty, plain bullies sometimes, but they lose everything in front of Dark Lord. Until Sabrina decides to fight back.
Having said that, the actresses do a fine job of playing these flawed yet magnificent characters.
3.Friendship
In the comic books, there's very little that keeps Sabrina from embracing the dark world and Church of the Night as her own. But the series changes the narrative and roots Sabrina with friendship. Her motivation to protect her friends propels her to extract the best from both worlds. Lachlan Watson and Jaz Sinclair do their job as Susie Putnam and Rosalind Walker.
4.Ambrose Spellman
Chance Perdomo plays Sabrina's cousin Ambrose. He is under house arrest and cannot leave the premises of Spellman house. But he is Sabrina's guide to all things mischievous. Their chemistry is comforting. But Perdomo makes a good meal out of scenes that are specific to his storyline. Netflix loyals are looking at another handsome coming out of that platform after Noah Centino and Ross Butler.
5.The dark world of witches
There are rituals, there are procedures, and there are spells that make this magical world appealing. 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' does not shy away from violence.
6.Upside Down Language
Like I said before, I am in love with dialogues. Just like I was with Riverdale. Corny with extra butter. You have to watch the show to believe me. There are dishonours in the court and they demand disorder in their presence.
7.Dealing with contemproary issues
'...Sabrina' covers most bases when it comes to dealing with issues like power abuse by men, homophobia, gender discrimination. But there also comes that one scene when you wonder if the showrunners forgot everything they had done until this point. Well, not everything is perfect.
8.Not afraid of showing demons
One would think that since the show is not a period piece (Jury is still out on that) showrunners will only refer to Satan like a being, out there. But they do not walk away from showing demons and the Dark Lord himself -- hooves and all.
9.Figure out Sabrina's era
A side game I played while binging on the show. Figure out in which decade all these things are unfolding. The sets of the show are so detailed that it is impossible to notice everything. Pause and search is the way to go. So I spotted smartphones and laptops in the world that still has old-timey landlines, frills on dresses, old-timey cars and retro fashion.
10.What if there's is Riverdale crossover and you are not ready
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has been repeating himself that he would like a crossover between 'Riverdale' and 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.' What if Netflix and CW agree and we get a few episodes? You need to know what has happened. You need to binge 'Sabrina.'
