It is said that at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, World War I came to an end. However, such enormous was the impact of the war that it reportedly left nine million soldiers dead and 21 million wounded. Countries like Germany, Russia, Austria-Hungary, France and Great Britain each lost about a million or more lives. In addition, millions of civilians lost lives due to diseases, starvation etc.
