"Jab goal change ho jaata hai toh Golu change ho jaati hain (Golu changes when the goal changes)," says Shweta Tripathi about her character in Mirzapur season 2.

With just another day to go for the release of the much-anticipated sequel of popular Amazon Prime web series 'Mirzapur', the excitement among fans is at its peak. And while audiences wait to binge-watch 'Mirzapur 2', we caught up actor Shweta Tripathi, who plays a vital role in the upcoming season.

While in season 1 of 'Mirzapur' we saw Golu (Shweta Tripathi) as the happy-go-lucky person who wasn't concerned about politics or the fact that her sister was getting married to a gangster, in season 2, we see her as this ruthless girl who wants to rule Mirzapur.

Talking about this and much more in an exclusive tête-a-tête with DNA, Shweta shed light on why there is a striking change in her character in 'Mirzapur 2' as compared to season 1, and also disclosed how she attended workshops to learn how to operate a gun.

"Even in real life, if a person's priorities change, it automatically changes the person as well," Shweta told DNA. "It's just like the saying, if you need to see something different, you need to do something different," she added.

Shweta continued, "As far as Golu is concerned, in season 1 she was a happy girl who loved to eat aloo-patty and read poems. She fought the college elections because she wanted to be the change that she desired to see. But in season 2, all of that changes. And it is of course, because of the way the first season concluded."

"When you lose someone you love the most, your sister who was pregnant, your love interest and to see Guddu (Pandit), who is an image of power and strength, fall to his knees, it changes something within her, she is shattered," Shweta said.

Disclosing the one regret Golu had in season 1 -- not knowing how to operate a gun, Shweta said that the violence her character witnessed first-hand completely changes Golu and makes her into something which she herself would not have approved of.

"There's a lot of fire, angst, no smiles and of course a lot of tears, which pretty much sums up season 2," Shweta said in an exclusive chat with DNA.

While sharing that she took extensive training and attended workshops to learn how to operate a gun, Shweta said that though the guys make it look cool, it's extremely difficult to fire a gun and it's loud that it shakes you up.

She said, "I did take training and it was necessary and important because a lot of times it is easy to complain that a certain thing is not done that way or it looks fake. So, I wanted to make sure that it does not come across that way."

Recalling how she called up co-actors Vikrant Massey and Ali Fazal after her first day of training, Shweta said that she literally abused them for making firing a gun look so cool and easy. She added that she also discussed with the two talented actors about how difficult it is to fire a gun, bare the loud noise and at the same time maintain eye contact while expressing emotion in the scene.

Shweta also disclosed that a few times she asked her husband to accompany her to the training sessions for inspiration and motivation.

When asked about the one aspect of Golu's character that she found difficult to explore, Shweta said, "It was understanding and discovering Golu."

Explaining further, Shweta added, "It was almost like understanding a new person, because everything that you believed in (in season 1), you are challenging that. So, yes, understanding her from a completely new perspective was difficult. But the makers including the writers and directors made it easy because they had absolute clarity on what they wanted and how a character is supposed to be"

Shweta concluded her interaction with DNA by stating that although the journey of discovering Golu was difficult and challenging, yet it was the most satisfying character that she has played till now.
