At present, the astronauts who call the space station home include two Americans, three Russians and one Englishman.
On May 16, the International Space Station (ISS) made its orbit around the Earth for the 100,000th time, having been launched on November 20, 1998.
As of now, the space station has travelled around 2,643,342,240 miles, or roughly the distance between Earth and Neptune. It could also be said to be a rough equivalent of the distance of 10 round trips between Earth and Mars.
The ISS travels at 17,500 miles per hour, orbiting Earth every 90 minutes and travels through 16 sunrises and sunsets per day.
Astronauts have been living aboard the 250-mile-high complex since 2000. More than 220 people have lived or visited the ISS.
