Zoik It: The App that's making India proud

The next step in social networking has been taken by a group of boys-Anshal Anand, Nawaz Dhandala and Abdul Rahman Janoo who have come up with the ultimate mobile application which could help you connect with like-minded people in real time.

Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and all other social networking sites connect you without pushing you forward to do something with your online friends. However, 'Zoik it!' is the app which helps you connect with real people at a real physical location,  easy and fast.

"Be it hiking, having a coffee at your local coffee store, grabbing a beer tonight, partying or even planning a game of tennis, we connect you instantly to people
 who like what you like" is what the team of three claim.

Nawaz recalls, "It all started when I was at Bangalore airport, waiting for an incoming flight from Delhi which was delayed by over 3 hours because of the fog all around. Needless to say, I was bored. While playing with my phone I wondered how great it would be if I could see people at the airport right now on my phone and pick people whom I want to talk to? How great it would be if I could “shout” something like – 'Anyone bored around and interested in #coffee?' and people could join me for a hangout? So,as soon as I landed, I contacted Anshal and Abdul with the Idea and we realised that we face such situations on a very frequent basis, yet there are no applications to connect us to interesting people and things happening around us in real time and so we came up with Zoik it!".

Adding a feather to their cap is the finals of Windows Imagine Cup competition in St. Petersburg, Russia where they represent India in the July of 2013. Microsoft Imagine Cup is the premier student technology competition now in its 11th year, it is the most expansive Imagine Cup ever with prize money upto 300,000$ and Microsoft grants of 3 Million USD.

Asking the team about it, they said "since the news of us qualifying came out on 29th of May, we have been fairly excited about the Russian Odyssey but we know the amount of hard work it has taken us to reach this stage and the amount of hard work it will take to win this Cup and get it to India. Each member of our team is working very hard on improving the application in various ways".

 "Imagine Cup is the beginning of a lifelong journey for young entrepreneurs,inventors,designers and innovators like us, it is an opportunity for us to collaborate on applications and seize opportunities post-Imagine Cup to polish our application, gain the support we need to bring our technology to market, and fully realize our potential to impact our local communities and the world", claimed the charismatic trio.

Asking them about how different 'Zoik it!' is from the other apps in the market, they said "our application is powered by an intelligent algorithm which feeds in data from your social feeds, interests, your physical location and creates a unique social experience which resembles your personality. In short it is a dynamic, real-time and highly intelligent social networking tool. So what you see on your application screen are things you like and the people you would love to connect and hang out with".

The application is available to latest Windows phones and will be made available to Android and iOS very soon.
