The move comes fairly soon after the WCD ministry announced an internet portal in May, that would deal with complaints of online harassment. The Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children (CCPWC) scheme, is to be financed by the Nirbhaya Fund, and jointly developed by the home ministry and the women and child development ministry. To be clear, the offer to help women abused online isn’t limited to social media. However, aside from the expected vocalisations of “What about women who troll men?” a lot of users have also taken to posting screenshots of one particular female user's various outbursts on Twitter, asking Gandhi to “take action” and “set an example.”Exactly what efforts the ministry plans to undertake,as far as online abuse of women goes, are still unclear, but setting up a hotline of sorts is at least a step in the right direction.
