Vodafone offers unlimited calling, SMS and 100MB of data per day for Rs 9!

Vodafone has introduced a new plan for its prepaid subscribers for Rs 9, which will offer unlimited voice calls, SMSes and 100MB of data each day. The plan is specially designed for users in Eastern UP.

Nipun Sharma, Business Head - UP East, Vodafone India said, “74% of Vodafone customers reside in rural parts of the state and a large number of families dwelling in these towns and villages of UP East have loved ones living in other states of India. They tend to use mobile phones primarily for calling, SMS and may log on to the internet for basic requirements.”

With the new pack, users can avail unlimited local and STD voice calls along with 100 SMSes and 100MB of data. The recharge can be done using the MyVodafone app. This new plan will compete with other telecom service providers like Airtel, Idea Cellular and Reliance Jio.

He added, “As the network of choice we want our customers to get the value for money at a price point that fits their budget. Hence Vodafone Rs 9 pack allows our customers to make unlimited calls, send 100 SMS, and enjoy 100 MB of mobile internet surfing, for one day.”

The final approval to the biggest merger in the telecom industry between Vodafone India and Idea Cellular, which will create the largest telecom player in India surpassing Bharti Airtel may come within next few weeks.

The department of telecommunications notified amendments to the merger and acquisitions guidelines by incorporating hike in spectrum cap limits which was approved by Cabinet in March this year. The total spectrum holding limit was increased to 35% from 25%. A 50% cap on combined spectrum holdings in the 700 MHz, 800 MHz and 900 MHz bands (sub-1 GHz bands) was recommended by Telecom Commission and cleared by the Cabinet. Earlier, any merged entity was not allowed to hold over 25% of the spectrum allocated in a service area/circle and over 50% in a particular band.
