The Union Home Ministry has appointed three persons, believed to be close to the ruling BJP, to monitor social media activities related to the sensitive ministry.

SB Navrang, Shishir Tripathi and Ravi Ranjan have been appointed as consultants in the Home Ministry for monitoring social media activities, analysing various contents and filing reports to the authorities concerned.

The contractual appointments of the three individuals will be valid for one year or till further orders, official sources said.

While Navrang will get a monthly salary of Rs 70,000, Tripathi will draw Rs 50,000 per month and Ranjan will get Rs 30,000 per month.

All three of them reportedly worked with the BJP IT cell during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, sources said.
