Messaging app Telegram, in its latest slew of new features and improvements, will be expanding group video calls viewers numbers up to 1,000. The platform, which gained prominence amid WhatsApp's new privacy policy concerns, launched group video calls feature last month.

Telegram has made video the main focus this time, as the Verge reported, group video calls sessions can now have up to 1,000 viewers.

While the maximum number of participants will remain at 30, Telegram said users now can have quite the audience now for "anything from online lectures to live rap battles."

Video messages will now have higher resolution on Telegram as users will be able to tap them for a larger view of the clip.

Telegram said that when users will record their own video messages, the audio from their device will keep playing.

"You can now sing along to your favorite songs or reply without pausing your podcast," Telegram said.

Telegram users now can also zoom in when recording with their phone's rear camera while other additions for video features include screen sharing for one-on-one video calls, with audio from the device of whoever's broadcasting, ANI reported.

Telegram will now give users the option to auto-delete their messages after a month. It was previously a week.

Telegram has also spruced up the user experience with animations for the passcode screen and when a user sends messages on Android, The Verge reported, adding that the iOS users already got these message animations in a previous update.
