The US Department of Justice (DOJ) and 11 Republican-ruled states filed an antitrust lawsuit on Tuesday alleging that Google - "the gatekeeper of the Internet" - engaged in the anticompetitive practice to maintain a monopoly in search and search advertising.

It is alleged that Google has used its dominance in online search and advertising to eliminate competition and harm consumers.

US Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen has told reporters that Google is the gateway to the Internet and search advertising. In 1974, AT&T and 1998, the department took a historic crackdown against Microsoft, enacting the Act to restore the role of competition in the sector and open the door to the next wave of innovation, just as this time in critical digital markets wants to implement, to remain competitive.

Technology companies have increased scrutiny of MPs worldwide, particularly in Europe, as the 2016 presidential election and Brexit referendum led to online disengagement. In addition to being questioned by tech companies in the US, investigations are being conducted by several state authorities and the DOJ.

Legal experts say that there may be a need to amend existing companies' conflicting laws later because they don't work for tech companies because they don't work like rail-era monopolies - tech monopolies consumers. Rising prices do not result in, and they have, in some areas, driven strongly.

In the US, approximately 80% of online searches are processed by Google (90% globally). The lawsuit alleges that Google uses billions of dollars collected from advertisements to pay Apple and other mobile phone manufacturers, carriers, and web browsers to retain Google as their default search engine, Which gives it an unfair advantage. This causes competition and harms consumers and advertisers.
