Xiaomi is launching its maiden smart TV under its Redmi brand in India on Wednesday (March 17) at 12pm. Xiaomi already has been selling smart TVs in the country under its more premium brand, MI. The event will be online on the official website of Redmi and their social media handles.

The teaser page for the upcoming TV has been promoting 'XL Experience', hinting that it is going to be large screen TV. The page also suggests that the TV is 'Made in India'. A leak in February had suggested that Redmi TV will be launched in two sizes in India- 55-inch and 65-inch.

Xiaomi Global VP and MD Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain had confirmed that the upcoming Redmi TVs will have Xiaomi’s Vivid Picture Engine along with support for HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision. The Mi QLED TV already comes with these features.

It is expected that all the TV models will have 4k panels. The teaser page shows ‘XL Audio Experience’ which could be a possible collaboration with Dolby.

The teaser page also highlights “XL Awesome Experience ready for the future” along with a picture of a gaming controller. It will be interesting to see if the TV has a game mode on it.

A picture of the remote control of the new TV  was shared by Redmi India on their Twitter handle. The remote control is the same which comes with Xiaomi's TVs and the MI Box 4k. The remote control has dedicated keys for Netflix and Prime Video. One minor change is that the PatchWall button now has a slightly different design.

Xiaomi aims to target a more affordable set of customers with Redmi products. So it is safe to assume that Redmi TV will be priced less than other Xiaomi devices. Since the TVs of this range (55-inch and 65-inch) in India are priced between Rs 50,000 to Rs 55,000, Redmi TV is also expected to cost around the same. The price of the TV will be announced tomorrow at the official launch event.
