One in 10 Brit women ready to spend £50,000 on IVF

Brit women desperate to be mothers have said that they are ready to spend more than £50,000 on IVF treatments to bear a child.A recent survey revealed that while most spend on average £15,000 on fertility treatment, nine in 10 women said they would be willing to sacrifice almost anything to give birth.A survey of more than 2,000 women aged 30 to 45 by Red magazine revealed that more than 90% would cut back on saving for the future or find a second job to realise their dream of motherhood.It found that 38% had struggled to conceive and 10% had undergone some sort of fertility treatment; with the average spend totalling £8,678.One in 10 women said they would be willing to spend more than £50,000."The fertility industry has proved itself to be completely recession-proof," the Daily Express quoted Sam Baker of Red magazine as saying."Women are prepared to make huge financial sacrifices as they do whatever it takes to conceive - cutting back on holidays or pensions in order to boost their chances of having a family," he added.However, many attempts at IVF are unsuccessful and 47% of those surveyed said they had failed to get pregnant.
