The reason why Twitter is the news and updates weapon of choice for so many connected users is its ability to plug them into conversations and news threads from so many diverse brands, topics and people. But it can quickly get overwhelming--even if you have meticulously maintained lists and follow your choice of key voices on the platform, there’s no assurance you’ll see the absolute latest and most important news as it happens. So if you have an undeniable #FOMO, Twitter is addressing it today with their new ‘Moments’ feature.

By simply tapping the Moments icon, Twitter gives you a dashboard of the most important conversations from around the Twitter-sphere, irrespective of whether you follow the relevant accounts driving these conversations. These conversations are updated in real time, so you can stay on top of important news as it unfolds. You can also browse conversations on a broader level, with the ability to swipe through topics such as Lifestyle, Sports, Entertainment and the like.

When you click into a Moment, you’re taken to an introduction with a title and description. Swipe into a story and you will see full-bleed images complete with autoplaying videos, Vines, and GIFs. Another tap gives you a more complete view of the Tweet, which you can favourite, retweet and more, while double tapping it immediately favourites the Tweet. There’s also a progress bar at the bottom that indicates how much more content each Moment has to offer. Swiping up or down dismisses the Moment and takes you back to the guide screen. After you’re through with the Moment, you can click the share button to Tweet your views and send it on to your followers.

To start, this feature will restricted to US users only. Stay tuned for the broader rollout subsequently.
