According to the Verge, Welcome is a small and cylindrical camera that is made to recognise people effectively making it a security camera as well. Netatmo said that it will be useful to monitor old members of the family as well as kids as they need assistance.

Welcome also allows you to download an app and see live coverage of what is happening in the area. It can also be set up so it does not give out notifications when known members of the family walk in.

However, it is not yet clear as to how the new camera will hold up as face recognition can be quite hit and miss. Welcome will be available this Spring but the company has not yet announced the price of the device
