The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is hosting a press conference tonight to discus new findings of the Kepler Mission. The Kepler Mission was launched in 2009, dedicated to finding exoplanets with the conditions necessary to sustain life. For that, they have to be orbiting within a certain range from a star, so as to be able to support water in its liquid state. Since its launch, the Kepler telescope has discovered more than 3,000 planet candidates in the habitable zone, and confirmed more than 1,000 to be supporting water. The teleconference, to be held at 9:30pm IST tonight, is rumoured to be big news from the Kepler Mission, possible the discovery of another Earth-like planet. Aside from participants from NASA's Science Mission Directorate, Ames Research Center, and an astrophysics professor from Cambridge, Kepler research scientist Jeff Coughlin, from the SETI Institute (Search for Extraterrestrial iIntelligence) in Mountain View, will also be a panelist.
