LG is bringing five new handsets of different shapes and sizes to January's consumer technology extravaganza that all have two things in common: they're focused on premium features but at an affordable price point. The new phones are, according to LG, a genuine effort to bring a host of flagship features, such as fingerprint scanners and latest generation camera tech to the rest of us. "Our 2017 mass-tier, mid-range smartphones focus on giving our customers a wide variety of options and choices for their smartphone lifestyles," said LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company president, Juno Cho.So the new K Series range, which consists of four models (K10, K8, K4 and K3) powered by three different processors and with three different screen sizes (4.5 to 5.3 inches), will offer intelligent features such as gesture shot photos -- i.e., move a hand to trigger the shutter for shake-free selfies -- even on the most basic K3 model. However, plump for the K10 handset with its 5.3-inch full HD screen and you'll get an ultra-wide angle (120-degree) front-facing camera for panoramic selfies, and a 13MP unit (the same type used on the company's range-topping G-Series handsets) on the rear sitting above an integrated fingerprint scanner. It will also come out of the box with Android Nougat installed, boasts a metal frame and a curved glass back panel. What's more, every K-series handset comes with a removable battery as standard and a microSD card for no-hassle storage expansion.Alongside the K Series, LG is also launching the Stylo 3, a handset the company claims offers the closest experience yet to physical note taking. Part of this is down to the 5.7-inch phablet sized HD display but it's also due to a redesigned stylus and supporting software. You can even jot notes on the screen when the handset is off and, as long as there's juice in the battery, the notes will be saved. Away from writing, the Stylo 3 has some very good camera specifications too. An 8-megapixel lens sits above the display and there's a 13-megapixel unit on the rear along with a fingerprint scanner."What's consistent in all our K Series and Stylus 3 devices is that they look and feel premium, offer replaceable batteries and all come with expandable memory slots -- what customers consider key factors when buying smartphones in this category," said Cho. The handsets will be officially revealed on January 5 at the 2017 CES in las Vegas, when pricing and availability will also be announced.
