There are a lot of concerns about WhatsApp privacy and whether or not our messages, data, media are encrypted or not. A recent report says that all WhatsApp messages are not end-to-end encrypted.

According to a recent report by ProPublica, nearly 1,000 contract workers of WhatsApp have access to a special software of Facebook, through which they can check private WhatsApp messages, images and videos.

”These contractors pass judgment on whatever flashes on their screen — claims of everything from fraud or spam to child porn and potential terrorist plotting — typically in less than a minute," the report by ProPublica said.

However, Facebook has refuted the claims of the reports, and issued a statement, saying WhatsApp is safe and end-to-end encrypted.

“WhatsApp provides a way for people to report spam or abuse, which includes sharing the most recent messages in a chat. This feature is important for preventing the worst abuse on the internet. We strongly disagree with the notion that accepting reports a user chooses to send us is incompatible with end-to-end encryption," Facebook told Android Central.

If a conversation is end-to-end encrypted, the messages will be locked and only the sender and receiver of the message can open this lock. WhatsApp says that messages are end-to-end encrypted and are not stored in any server due to the encryption technology. The end-to-end encrypted technology is auto-enabled in WhatsApp.
