Not all iPhone users know that their precious device is allergic to the presence of helium and certainly not many would know that something as common as an MRI machine contains liquid helium that can cause an iPhone to stop working.

A Reddit user Harritaco was surprised when an MRI machine being installed at their work resulted in iPhone s and Apple Watches of around 40 people malfunctioning. It was only impacting Apple products and not Android devices, Cnet reported.

To this, another Redditor, captaincool, explaied that the helium in the MRI machines, used to cool the magnets inside, impacts the microelectromechanical system, or MEMS, oscillators in the iPhone. These tiny devices keep the phone's clock running. For the iPhone to work properly, the resonators have to be kept inside a hermetically sealed chamber, which can be permeable to gasses like helium. So the next time you are near helium, or an MRI machine, be sure to keep your iPhone far away from the possible impact of the damaging gas.

Recently, Flurry Analytics, a company which looked into device activations of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max from September 21 to September 27 found that sales for both devices performed better than its predecessor, the iPhone X, as well as the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

According to the report, during their first full week, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max generated a7 percent more revenue, as compared to the combined sales of the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus during their first week respectively.

“Over their first week of sales, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus devices claimed 0.76% percent share of the Apple device base. By comparison, the XS and XS Max captured 45% more share, which is a strong improvement,” the report added. The ratio of sales between the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max show that the latter is selling 1.6 more times than the iPhone Xs.
