Here is a step-by-step guide to easily hide WhatsApp pictures from the gallery.

Step 1: Download a simple file explorer. If you already have one, ignore this step and move ahead to the next step.

Step 2: Open your File Manager app, for instance, ES File Explorer.

Step 3: Open your WhatsApp Folder and then click Media.

Step 4: Go to WhatsApp images and click on the three dots that appear at the top right. This will pop up a New Box. select File as shown in the picture.

Step 5: Next you have to create a file named as .nomedia and click OK. You will get a message saying '.nomedia has been created'.

Step 6: Return to your phone gallery and then you will see that your WhatsApp folder has disappeared. (If it hasn't, try clearing the cache for your gallery app in Settings > Apps/app manager > Gallery/album, depending on your phone's manufacturer.) 

Step 7: Now, to see the .nomedia folder you have to enable hidden files in your file manager. For example, in ES you click the blue icon in the top left then scroll down until you see the on/off switch for Show hidden files. Now you just need to turn it on.

Step 8: Next if you go back to your WhatsApp images folder, you can see your hidden files. Long press the .nomedia file and delete it. This will make your WhatsApp images reappear in your phone gallery. If they don't, you should clean the cache and reboot your phone if required. 

Step 9: Don't forget to turn off hidden files if you don't want all of them showing up in every folder in your file manager.
