Microsoft's HoloLens Development Edition will be available for shipping on March 30 for $3000.
Microsoft's HoloLens is a Windows 10 device, and the APIs responsible for holographic computing are already available in Windows 10. Enabling holographic computing with no external cameras or wires, it does not require a phone or PC connection.
Powered by a custom-built Microsoft Holographic Processing Unit (HPU) and an Intel 32-bit architecture, the device has see-through holographic lenses that use an advanced optical projection system to generate multi-dimensional full-color holograms. The HoloLens is capable of understanding gestures and gaze and its sensors can capture information about what you're doing and the environment you're in in real-time. Built-in cameras also allow users to record HD pictures and video holograms that can be shared with others even if they don't have a Hololens.
