The doodle shows a winter scene in which a one-horse open sleigh is dragging along two children, with a snowy background and leafless trees with the message ‘Happy Holidays from Google!

The search engine giant has been wishing its users consistently with attractive Christmas eve doodles.

The doodle is a relatively rare ‘global’ Google Doodle because unlike many of the pictures appearing on the search engine’s home page (other than the main logo), it will be seen by everyone in the world when it gets to be 24 December in their time zone.

The search giant has avoided any mention of the word ‘Christmas’ as more people are expected to celebrate the festival as a non-religious event this year.

Christmas Eve is an integral part of Christmas festivities; people start celebrating Christmas from this day with families and communities gathering for dinner in the evening and churches holding special services including Midnight Mass.

Google has also included a link on its homepage to track Santa's journey around the world as he goes about delivering gifts to children.
