Wiz was established in 2020, and under CEO Asaf Rappaport's direction, the company has expanded quickly.
Google, the biggest tech company in the world, is rumoured to be purchasing Wiz, a cyber security firm. The information indicates that a $23 billion deal could be signed. This deal might close soon, according to people familiar with the situation, as reported by the Wall Street Journal on Sunday.
Wiz was established in 2020, and under CEO Asaf Rappaport's direction, the company has expanded quickly. The company began to consider an IPO as early as May. This cybersecurity business is now valued at $12 billion.
Wiz's cloud security solution is appealing to big businesses with substantial computing resources because it allows cybersecurity experts to access the entire cloud presence of the company. A number of prestigious companies, such as Sequoia Capital, Index Ventures, Insight Partners, and Israeli venture capital firm CyberStarts, support it.
This would be Google's largest acquisition to date if the deal goes through. With so many nations and businesses currently experiencing cyberattacks, Google's acquisition will be a significant advancement in cyber security. Google has previously made significant acquisitions in cyberspace. Two years ago, the company paid $5.4 billion to acquire Mandiant, a cyber security company.
However, the business is currently under unprecedented antitrust scrutiny. Google has been sued twice by the Justice Department for antitrust violations. The most recent lawsuit, which was filed in 2023, focused on the company's acquisition practices.
