Google's doodle pays tribute to Douglas Adams on 61st birthday
The humorist, who wrote the famous "trilogy" of five novels, would have been 61 today had he not tragically passed away from a heart attack at the age of 49.
Google paid tribute to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy writer Douglas Adams (11 March 1952 – 11 May 2001) on Monday with an interactive Google Doodle.The humorist, who wrote the famous "trilogy" of five novels, would have been 61 today had he not tragically passed away from a heart attack at the age of 49. His famous international bestseller, whose sales run into the millions, started out as a BCC radio comedy in 1978.Born in Cambridge, Adams was discovered as a writer in London by Monty Python's Graham Chapman and the two co-wrote a sketch for the surreal-humour-based television series, making him one of the only two contributors from outside the Python gang to get a screen-writing credit.An ardent music aficionado who played guitar (left-handed) and piano, Adams was a environmental activist who championed the cause of wildlife conservation.
