Search engine giant Google today paid tribute to sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar with a special Doodle commemorative logo on his 96th birth anniversary.

Brought Indian music to the World
One of the greatest names in Indian music, Shankar is also credited for taking Indian sitar to the global stage. He is the only Indian musician to have five Grammy awards including a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.

He also shared a close bond with late Beatle George Harrison.Shankar died on December 11, 2012 at the age of 92.

His daughters Anoushka Shankar and Norah Jones are famous musicians in their own right.
