Google is reportedly bringing back the manual camera exposure feature with Android Nougat.
Google is reportedly bringing back manual exposure to Android in August, a feature that was previewed in Android Nougat but then vanished.
However, Android users will be happy to know that the Houdini act was short lived and the feature is coming back.
Even though there are plenty of third-party apps that do the same, it would be nice to have it integrated into the camera itself rather than having one of these apps occupying valuable MB’s of storage.
The working of the feature is pretty simple and straightforward. Users will be presented with a slider on the right side of the screen which controls the exposure , sliding it up adds more light and sliding it down will darken the image.
The image captured by AndroidPolice indicates that there may be a third setting in the works although no details have been disclosed as yet.
The feature will appear when users tap the screen alongside the predominant auto-focus feature.
As of now, Google hasn't announced when users can expect this feature. However, a tweet from Evan Blass claims that the company will launch Android 7.0 (or Android Nougat) this month.
Google is reportedly also launching new Nexus devices in the near future, so the company may launch this feature in the midst of other announcements.
