Google Capital is reportedly planning to set up an office in India for the first time. According to Tech Crunch, a Google spokesperson confirmed plans to hire an India-based Google Capital representative, although it is not yet clear where that person will be based.Google Capital partner David Lawee reportedly said that considering the growing number of smartphone users in the South Asian country, it made a lot of sense to focus on India at present. While Google Capital has invested in real-estate portal CommonFloor, and US-Indian company Freshdesk, it remains to be seen whether its India-based representative will have a substantial share in Google Capital's reported 300 million dollar fund, the report added.
