Google Apps for Work is now rebranded as G Suite. The announcement came at Google’s Horizon event. Along with the new name, some of the intelligent apps in the existing lineups -- which include Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar, Hangouts, and more -- will also be getting overhauled with new upgrades and improvements meant to improve communication in the workforce.

Google feels that the new name reflects its mission to “help people everywhere work and innovate together, so businesses can move faster and go bigger.”

With the update, Google highlights the importance of machine learning by bringing it to even more services. For starters, Google Drives on Android will be getting a feature called “Quick Access” which studies your drive activity to predict the file you need and display them on top before you even type anything. According to Google, this will shave about 50 percent of the time it would normally take you to find the file you are looking for. Google Drives will also be getting the ‘Explore’ feature which helps users discover new topics, images, and content.

Google Slides will also be getting the Explore feature for layout suggestions. To access it, you will feed an image into a slide. The layout suggestions are based on the colour palate and resolution.

On the other hand, Google Calendar will also be getting a new Smart Scheduling feature on iOS (already available on Android) will use machine intelligence to determine the most convenient time and room to have a meeting.

While Google Sheets will now let users ask questions in natural language by using a software that converts your written questions into a formula along with the answer.

Google is also launching a team focused tool called Team Drives, which allows teams to manage and share team content on cloud storage. In addition, If a team member leaves, the work they have done stays back while a new member can be thrown into the mix from the get-go. Only a small number of customers are using the service and is currently only available through the Early Adopter Program.
