Facebook, with its 1.35 million-strong user base, although the world's largest social network by some margin has been overtaken by, Tumblr now the fastest growing social platform by recording a growth of 120% in six months. Facebook, on the other hand, grew at only 2% during this period.

According to a research published by the Global Web Index (GWI), Pinterest took the lead in overall member growth by showcasing 57% growth while Facebook again lagged behind at 6%, reported Tech Crunch.

Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Google+, all grew faster than Facebook. In mobile apps, while Facebook is the largest app currently, Snapchat is the fastest growing of them all, up 56% this year. However, it is followed closely by Facebook, Messenger and Instagram.
