At the annual F8 2018 developer's conference, one of the most interesting announcements to come from Facebook was the launch of a new dating service within the social network.

This announcement raised many eyebrows as online dating service comes with its own set of privacy and security concerns and people are bound to have reservations after the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

Nonetheless, Facebook plans to roll out the purported service after testing it in a few months time. Given that the main Facebook is overloaded with ads based on user preference, one might expect the dating service to be the same. However, Facebook clarified that it does not plan to run ads alongside the profiles of potential matches, Recode has reported.

The company has also promised that the user data it will collect to find the potential match for you will not be used to throw targeted ads on other Facebook properties such as Instagram or Messenger.
