The newly launched Apple Watch SE has apparently been subjected to an overheating issue. At least six South Korean owners of the recently released Apple Watch SE have reported overheating issues with their new Apple wearables. One of the users said that he felt a burning sensation on the wrist when he was wearing the Apple Watch SE. Others pointed out that the devices got overheated while charging.

For some, the watch overheated while on the charger, while others experienced a burning sensation while wearing it on the wrist. Out of the six owners with the issue, three have already been issued refunds.

It appears the issue with the Apple Watch SE is limited to a small batch of watches produced for the South Korean market.

As reported by Apple Insider, the overheating issues stemmed from the same area: above the display connector, between the Taptic Engine and Digital Crown. This deduction was reached by analyzing the teardowns of older Apple Watch models. Apparently, a sign of the impending incident is a yellow spot on the screen that affected users have spotted.

The new Apple Watch SE is seen as a Watch 3 upgrade in terms of design, display and performance but as far as features are concerned there are not many new useful health features. The new Apple Watch SE does not come with ECG and blood oxygen monitor. However, there are features like fall detection, always-on altimeter and international emergency calls.

Features

Two sizes: 40mm and 44mm
LTE and non-LTE options
S5 chip
Optical heart rate sensor
Fall detection
$279 price tag

Alongside the Apple Watch Series 6, Apple introduced a new lower-cost Apple Watch SE for those who are looking for a more affordable, fitness-focused Apple Watch option that has all of the essential Apple Watch functionality.

The Apple Watch SE is almost identical to the Series 6, but it does not have ECG or blood oxygen functionality, as those health features take hardware that Apple did not include in the lower-cost option.

When it comes to design and features, the Apple Watch SE is something of a mix between the Series 4, Series 5, and Series 6 models. The Apple Watch SE is available in 40 and 44mm size options, and it has the same thinner, smaller case introduced in the Series 4.
