Joker malware has affected eight apps on Google Play Store, according to research by Quick Heal Security Labs.
‘Joker’ is back! No, this is not a new series releasing soon on OTT platforms but the malware is back to trouble Google. According to research by Quick Heal Security Labs, Joker malware has been detected in eight applications on the Google Play Store.
Google Play Store has removed all these eight applications - Auxiliary Message, Fast Magic SMS, Free CamScanner, Super Message, Element Scanner, Go Messages, Travel Wallpapers and Super SMS. The apps are expected to be back on Google Play Store after the malware is removed.
Google removes infected apps from time to time but malware manages to hide into user device via applications and steals valuable data of Android users.
However, if you have any of these eight apps on your devices then we suggest you delete them right away. For that, you need to manually uninstall and delete them.
The Joker malware manages to sneak back on the applications by changing its code, execution method and other techniques. According to the researchers, Joker malware steals the data of the users including SMS, contact list, OTPs and more. The malware is capable to bypass the security norms of the Google Play Store.
How to delete these apps on Android:
- Go to the Play store, search for the application and click on ‘uninstall’ on the app. This will remove the app from your Android device.
- You can simply long-press the app icon for a few seconds to uninstall the app and then drag it to the delete option which appears on the screen.
- Go to your phone settings and search the app to remove the malicious Joker malware-infected apps from your devices.
