Launched in 2013, the app has grown quickly in popularity serving some 55 countries around the world. Its success is in part because it is more than simply about swiping left or right.

Instead, users can chat, share content, and create multimedia profiles. Little wonder its founders bill it as "the biggest community for queer women worldwide."

However, until now, that community was shunning almost 80% of smartphone owners around the world as it was only available on iOS. Not anymore. From Friday, the app will be available on Google Play to download for compatible Android devices.
