After WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, now Gmail suffers outage; many users unable to send mails

Several users took to the microblogging website Twitter to report the outage with the hashtag #Gmaildown.

Google's email service Gmail on Tuesday suffered an outage after which, several users reported that they were unable to send emails using the service.  In parts of India, people are unable to access this free email service of Google. Some Gmail users are neither able to send mail nor are they receiving any email.

According to Down Detector, a site that monitors service outages, 68% of people have reported that they are facing trouble in accessing Gmail. 18% of users reported server connection while 14% of users were having problems in logging in.

Several users took to the microblogging website Twitter to report the outage with the hashtag #Gmaildown. 

On October 4, a global outage brought millions of Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger users to Twitter.

The social network later said that configuration changes on the backbone routers that coordinate network traffic between our data centres caused issues that interrupted this communication.

Earlier in June, several users complained about an outage that affected Google as well as its services including Gmail.

In December last year, Google services, including Gmail, YouTube and Google search, went down for millions of users across the world.
