Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) celebrated a historic launch from Sriharikota's Satish Dhawan Space Centre today morning. ISRO launched 20 satellites at one go abroad PSLV-C34, including Cartosat-2 an indigenous earth observation satellite.

PSLV-C34 taking off. It took off from the second launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, about 110 km from Chennai and placed a Cartosat-2 series and 19 others satellites in the designated orbit about 30 minutes later.

The Cartosat-2 series satellite launched by the PSLV-C34 is an indigenous remote sensing one, with panchromatic and multispectral cameras on board.

Of the remaining 19 satellites on board PSLV-C34, 2 are academic satellites from Sathyabhama University, Chennai (Sathyabamasat) and College of Engineering Pune (Swayam). 12 are US sateliites, including the earth imaging 'Dove' and another type. There are 2 from Canada and 1 each from Indonesia and Germany. Image Credit: ISRO

ISRO launched into orbit 20 satellites in one go through its PSLV C-34 rocket in about 26 minutes after the rocket took off from the second pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota at the scheduled time of 9:25 am. (Image Credit: PTI )
