World Cup 2015: Man banned from attending matches post 'pitch-siding' incident

A man has been banned from the World Cup by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after being caught 'pitch-siding' during the group stage tie between Bangladesh and Afghanistan at Manuka Oval in Canberra.Pitch-siding is the practice of placing in-play bets at the venues of live matches to exploit the small time delay between play occurring and the information being relayed via TV or online feed to betting agencies.According to Australian police, the man was 'thrown out of the stadium' for pitch-siding but further said that the practice was not an 'offence' in the Australian Capital Territory, Stuff.co.nz reported. Moreover, five other men were also ejected from the stadium after two were involved in an 'altercation with security' and three other people were marched out by security for 'throwing things' into the crowd.Bangladesh won their World group stage game against Afghanistan by 105 runs.
