Indian boxers Amit Panghal and Manish Kaushik have assured India medals after both enter semi-finals in the World Boxing Championships held in Ekaterinburg, Russia.
Asian Games gold-medallist Panghal defeated Philippines' Carlo Paalam 4-1 in the 52 kg category to be assured of at least a bronze in the marquee tournament.

Panghal had earlier defeated Paalam in the Asian Games semifinals last year.
The Haryana-pugilist will be up against Kazakhstan's Saken Bibossinov - who stunned Armenia's European gold-medallist and sixth seed Artur Hovhannisyan - in his quarterfinal showdown.

As for Kaushik, he won against Brazil’s Wanderson De Oliveira in the 63 kg category by unanimous verdict 5:0 to enter the semi-finals. With two medal's assured, this is already India's best show at this C'ship.
In the women's category, Pooja Dhanda lost in the 59 kg (0-10) to Russian grappler. She needs to win her next bout tomorrow to win a bronze medal.
