The Three Lions’ ‘worst ever World Cup defeat’ also dashed their hopes of beating Germany at the World Cup for the first time since the 1966 final.Capello’s men, pitted in Group C against USA, Algeria and Slovenia, won only one game in the tournament. They beat Slovenia 1-0, and drew against the US 1-1 and Algeria 0-0.
