It is a well-known fact that former Australian cricketer Greg Chappell didn't have the greatest of relationships with the Indian players during his stint as the Indian coach. While the then national captain, Sourav Ganguly's traumatised relation with Chappell was the most talked about topic of that period, one can't disagree that all senior members of the team like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh had occasional run-ins with the Aussie.

Sehwag, at a recent comedy show (What the duck), hosted by cricket humourist Vikram Sathaye, Sehwag revealed the actual reason behind Chappell's failure in India. "There's not an iota of doubt about Greg Chappell's cricketing knowledge but his man management skills were bilkul zero (absolutely nil)," said  the aggressive opener.

The Nawab of Najafgarh opened the pandora's box on how the strict coach once tried to forcibly change his batting technique. "In international cricket, you need someone who can guide you and manage you through tough times. But Chappell was hell bent on adjusting my foot movement," said the visibly displeased cricketer.

"We were playing at Saint Lucia and just before a practice session, he told me to stretch my leg a bit more while driving the ball. I had never done that in my life, still I tried it out for two or three deliveries and gave up. I frankly told him that this wasn't possible for me as I am not at all comfortable," informed the batsman who relied heavily on his hand-eye co-ordination during his playing days.

An unwanted quarrel broke out between the two after that Rahul Dravid had to step in to resolve the issue. "Dravid calmed me down, he asked me to follow coach's instructions for the sake of formality. Chappell then came up to me and said if I continue batting the way I was doing, then I will not be able to score runs. I challenged him that if I don't score runs, then he can drop me from the team," said Sehwag.

Next day, India were batting first against West Indies and the Delhite had already added 99 runs to his credit at lunch. What followed is something which would put any Bollywood script writer's dialogues to shame. "I came back to the dressing and told Chappell that it doesn't matter whether my feet are moving or not, end of the day I will score runs," blasted Sehwag, and Chappell thought it was better to keep his mouth shut.
