Indian skipper Sunil Chhetri gave Indians a reason to dream. After scoring two goals against Thailand in their opener of the AFC Asian Cup 2019 at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the captain with 66 goals has surpassed Lionel Messi to become the active player with the 2nd most international goals.

After scoring two goals against Thailand in their opener of the AFC Asian Cup 2019 at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the captain with 66 goals has surpassed Lionel Messi to become the active player with the 2nd most international goals.
In the 27th minute of the first half, he scored from the spot to give India the lead. However, the lead was cut short by an equaliser from Teerasil Dangda in the 33rd minute.
But in the second half, Chhetri came in with a bang and in the 46th minute, he helped India regain the lead.

With the strike, Chhetri is behind Portuguese playmaker Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored 85 goals for his national team.
India did not stop with the two goals. In the 69th minute, Anirudh Thapa scored the third goal and Jeje Lalpekhlua who came in as a substitute, scored in 80th minute to put the match to bed.
