Way back in Februay 7, 1999 Anil Kumble took 10 wickets in the fourth innings of Delhi test match against Pakistan conceding just 74 runs. It's a record which can't be surpassed and has been achieved by only one other bowler in Test cricket history.

But did Waqar Younis try to deny Anil Kumble this impressive feat. Well that's what Wasim Akram believes.

In a news snippet, (published by DNA) shared by Virendra Sehwag, Wasim reveals that Younis hatched a plan to get run out and deny Kumble the record, when it was inevitable that Pakistan was losing. But Akram refused to do so and said he would try his best to defend against Kumble but will not throw away his wicket or get out willingly. As luck would have it, he was eventually dismissed by Kumble.

But in a tweet, Younis denied the incident and said may be age is catching up with Wasim Akram.

Wasim subsequently replied saying, "@waqyounis99 Get your facts right mate. And if we are going to go down the "age" road you know I'll Beat you in that game every time."

Unfortunately he deleted the tweet probably fearing escalation of the event which happened way back.  It is well known that Wasim and Waqar were a brilliant bowling combination, but weren't exactly best buddies off field. Seems like sometimes all you need is a little spark to fuel rivalry from the past.
