Virat Kohli smashed his fourth century of the Border-Gavaskar trophy on day three of the Sydney Test against Australia on Thursday.

Kohli hit 140 laced with 20 boundaries to add to his twin centuries in the first Test at Adelaide and also his 169 in Melbourne.This was Kohli's 10th century in Tests, 6th against Australia and the fourth in the ongoing series.

Kohli became the first player to notch up three successive hundreds as Test skipper. Kohli has 5 Test hundreds in Australia and is fourth along with Clive Lloyd, Sunil Gavaskar and David Gower in the list. Herbert Sutcliffe, with 9 hundreds leads the list. Kohli is the third batsman to score 4 Test hundreds in an Australia series, with Herbert Sutcliffe and Sir Wally Hammond the other two players to achieve the feat. 

Kohli now has scored the most runs by an Indian batsman in Australia, as he also surpassed Rahul Dravid's record of 619 runs during the 2003/04 series.
