GENEVA: German Jan Ullrich battled through a rain storm to win the nine-day Tour of Switzerland which ended in Bern on Sunday.

The 32-year-old T-Mobile rider won the final trial stage to snatch the race from Spain's Koldo Gil.

Gil finished second 24 seconds behind with Jorg Jaksche of Germany third 63 seconds back.

The victory was Ullrich's second victory in the Tour of Switzerland, following his victory in 2004 when he won the final time trial, and he is now favourite for the Tour de France starting in Strasbourg on July 1.
