Even if you don't get a medal, you're still the best!!: Tokyo man motivates athletes everyday

This year Japan is hosting the greatest sporting event played in the world every four years. The majestic Tokyo Olympics 2020 is a witness to many sporting firsts, with records breaking and new records being made every day. 

There have been many rejoicing and many heartbreaking moments for the players in Tokyo. And we as the audience get to witness some of the best sporting moments in the history of the games ever played.

Every country is supporting its players, encouraging them to play well but because this is the ultimate sporting event, the matches are tough and many athletes are left disappointed for being so near yet so far from winning the medal.

After all, in each sporting event, there are only three medals - gold, silver, and bronze up for grabs. Hence despite putting in their best efforts most athletes have to return home empty-handed which sometimes is frustrating for the players.

So here is one man in Japan who understands this pain and so has taken it upon himself to encourage the athletes every day and remind them that only winning medals don't prove their worth. Every morning, he stands outside the Olympic Village and holds up a sign that says, "Good morning athletes! Even if you don't get a medal, you're still the best!! So believe in yourself!"

TimeOut London website initially reported this positive story of the Japanese man encouraging the Olympic athletes. The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, stands outside the Olympic Village every morning from 7.15 am and holds the placard every time a bus carrying Olympic athletes passes by. He stays here for around two hours each day.

The man initially began with a welcome signboard on July 22, the day before the opening ceremony which later he changed to this supportive message for the athletes. Many athletes have noticed this man's efforts and have posted pictures of him in appreciation on Instagram and now this old man is a social media star.

It is said that this man will be standing outside the village every day until the last day of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. So here's our salute to this man's sporting spirits.
