Nick Kyrgios eventful US Open ended in the third round as Russian Andrey Rublev defeated him 7-6(5) 7-6(5) 6-3 in a battle on Saturday.

The Australian, however, had a very awkward moment when one of his tweets backfired.

The player loves being in the news and just before his clash to Rublev, posted a tweet asking, "who the hell is Tom Rinaldi and why is he commentating a tennis match when he has no idea what’s going on".

Rinaldi is a journalist at ESPN. What appeared to be a surprising moment for Kyrgios is that Rinaldi showed up later to have a funny, pre-match interview with Kyrgios.

The Australian star cracked a smile when Rinaldi introduced himself at the beginning of their interview.

“Nick, Tom Rinaldi very good to see you,” the ESPN reporter said. “That’s hilarious,” Kyrgios replied.

Rublev will next face Italian Matteo Berrettini, who beat Australian Alexei Popyrin earlier on Saturday,
