The 18-year-old player felt uncomfortable while playing because of her large breasts.

So, she ignored a petition from fans pleading with her to forget about breast reduction and went ahead with the operation. Her chest is now down from 34DD to a more modest 34C.

Halep, who won the junior French Open in 2008 and is now ranked 114 in the world, said she never liked her breasts.

“The weight troubles me and my ability to react quickly. My breasts make me uncomfortable when I play,” The Mirror quoted her as saying.

“I don’t like them anyway. I’d have gone for surgery even if I hadn’t been a sportswoman,” she said.

But Halep struggled at the French Open at the Roland Garros in Paris this week, crashing out to Australian Samantha Stosur in the first round of the season’s second Grand Slam event.
