The victim alleged that Ghosh, an Arjuna awardee, promised to marry her and raped her on several occasions over the past three years.

Her complaint alleges that she got pregnant and had an abortion. She allowed the relationship because Gosh reportedly promised to marry her when she turned 18.

"He is avoiding my daughter now and so we have no other alternative but to go to the police," girl's father told the daily.

A report in Bengali daily Ebela reveals that they met in 2014 via social media. They used to meet at 24-year-old Ghosh's house in Siliguri, his flat in Kolkata, and at the girl's residence in Barasat when her parents were not around.

Barasat additional SP Abhijit Banerjee told the daily that they have started the investigation after the complaint was received and Ghosh, the youngest national table tennis champion, is being charged for rape, criminal conspiracy, causing miscarriage without woman’s consent and cheating.
